Safety surfacing
How deep does it need to be?
Loose fill only protects a fall up to a certain height, and only at a certain depth. The depth you need is also what decides how tall your border has to be, since one course of board is 5.5 inches.
Measure from the highest standing or sitting surface on the equipment to the ground.
Swings need more room. The surfaced area has to reach twice the pivot height in front and behind, and 6 ft out to each side. A swing on an 8 ft beam wants roughly 32 ft front to back.
Depths follow the CPSC Public Playground Safety Handbook.
What arrives
Boards come in kits of 4, 8 or 16, so the plan is packed into whole kits. We pick the combination that wastes the least board, then the fewest boxes.
Excludes tax, shipping and promotions. Safety surfacing is bought locally, so it is not in this total.
Surfacing depths follow the CPSC Public Playground Safety Handbook and are here to size your order, not to certify a finished installation. Frame It All does not sell safety surfacing, so quantities are given as volume for you to price with a local supplier.
